Andy established Bell & Co in 2014 with a mission to offer a unique personal service to his clients. The 2021 merger with Lane Neave offered the opportunity to partner with a firm with similar philosophies that is on the rise. Lane Neave’s desire to keep the feel of a boutique firm despite its growth, size and success appealed to Andy.

Andy has been practising in the fields of employment law, family law disputes and civil litigation since 2002. He is a highly skilled advocate in the courtroom and in the Employment Relations Authority.

Andy has worked in well‐known law firms in Wellington and Palmerston North. Formerly a partner in Palmerston North law firm Fitzherbert Rowe, Andy moved back to Wellington when he was offered a specialist employment law role at Quigg Partners, one of New Zealand’s best boutique legal practices.

“What I enjoy most in practice is applying great techniques and strategies in negotiations. I try to bring an understanding of the psychology of people and their drivers to the table. I use these insights to get results. It’s a very satisfying thing to learn about what drives people and apply it to resolve contentious problems.”

Andy has worked in dispute resolution and litigation since admission to the Bar in 2002. Andy has two specialist areas of interest in his practice, namely employment law and relationship property.

Formerly, Andy was the principal at Bell & Co, a boutique dispute resolution firm. The practice of Bell & Co merged with Lane Neave in January 2022. Andy brings to the table a deep understanding of what it is like to run a small or medium business and the demands on people leaders.

Andy is an experienced litigator who regularly represents clients in the key tribunals and Courts of New Zealand.

Andy has extensive experience in mediations and is one of the most prolific practitioners in Wellington that engages in MBIE employment mediation work.

Andy has considerable interest in negotiation-based practice and the psychology and drivers of parties in negotiations.

Since his admission to the Bar in 2002, Andy has specialized in employment law, family law disputes, civil litigation, and relationship property. A highly skilled advocate, Andy excels in the courtroom and the Employment Relations Authority.

Throughout his career, Andy has worked with prominent law firms in Wellington and Palmerston North. As a former partner at Fitzherbert Rowe in Palmerston North, he transitioned back to Wellington to accept a specialist employment law role at Quigg Partners, one of New Zealand’s top boutique legal practices.Andy takes great satisfaction in applying effective negotiation techniques and strategies. He strives to understand the psychology and motivations of the people involved, utilizing these insights to achieve results and resolve contentious issues. With considerable interest in negotiation-based practice, Andy has become one of the most prolific practitioners in Wellington engaging in MBIE employment mediation work.

As the former principal at Bell & Co, Andy brings valuable experience in running a small-to-medium-sized business and understanding the demands on people leaders. Now with Lane Neave since the merger in January 2022, Andy continues to represent clients in New Zealand’s key tribunals and courts as an accomplished litigator.
